Gary is Founder and President of Hippenstiel Investment Counsel, LLC. He is uniquely qualified to guide the other members of Integra's Investment Committee regarding the economic environment as well as assist with subsequent selections of management styles and investment managers for its recommended investment platform.
For twenty one years Gary served as the Chief Investment Officer for two of Houston's premier private trust companies. He was a pioneer in constructing an open architecture, multi-manager investment program for many of Houston's wealthy families. Foreseeing the need for diversification from volatile trading markets, he led the development of the use of alternative assets in a structured portfolio process over ten years ago.
Gary brings an intensive selection process to Integra's portfolio of recommended mutual funds. He provides insight and oversight to the firm's investment management process. In his prior positions, Gary has interviewed hundreds of prospective asset managers and has served since 1995 as an Independent Trustee to several series trusts of mutual funds comprised of nearly fifty individual funds. Much of that time he has been the Chairman of the Audit and Pricing Committees which has given him special insight into the workings of the mutual fund industry.
Having served many wealthy families for over two decades as a Chief Investment Officer and as a consultant, Gary's goal for clients has always been the real growth of capital after taxes and inflation. However, the experiences of many volatile market cycles have created an equal focus on the preservation of principal during difficult times.
